Indoor Cardio Workout Circuit

Cardio/HIITWhitney Carlson2 Comments

It's easy to slack off during the winter but just getting a little movement in during the day will give you the mental and physical boost you need to tackle your to-do list! I love to do a quick cardio circuit in the mornings just to help me wake up. Try this one, even if you can only do it one time through - small steps add up! Keep at it and work your way up to repeating the circuit three times.

P.S. How cute is this sports bra?! I love the colors...and the skinny (but supportive) straps...and how smooth it is...basically everything about it. It also matches my go-to long sleeve hiking shirts!

I counted and I have eight (8!!!!) Champion® sports bras basically in every single color. For this workout I was able to test out the Champion SmoothTec Bra. I was already a fan of Champion sports bras (obviously) and this one does not disappoint either. It's smooth and lightweight but still supportive. I've worn it hiking and to the gym numerous times. One of my favorite things is where the arm cutouts are - it didn't dig into my skin and gave me enough room to move my arms as needed. For me, it's hard to find sports bras that are supportive but also shaped correctly. I LOVED this one!

Now, grab you a new Champion sports bra and do this workout!

Driveway Workout Circuit: At-Home Workout Routine

Looking to stay (or get) in shape this winter? You've come to the right place! Although we normally workout in the gym, most days I go outside just to get in some fresh air and a little movement (since I work from home).

I made up this quick workout you can do in your very own driveway! If this is just a little break for you - do the circuit once. If it's your complete workout do it as many times as you can with correct form! As always, adjust to your fitness level.

Driveway Workout
No Equipment Needed

Warm Up: 1 Minute Jog

10 Squats

10 Push-Ups

10 Walking Lunges (per leg)

30 Second Sprint

10 Squats with Pulse

10 Push-Ups

10 Lunges with Rear Leg Extension (per leg)

If you have a little more in you, feel free to add 10 Burpees at the end!

Repeat 2-3 Times

Squats - Stand with your legs shoulder-width apart (or you can do narrow squats with your legs closer together). Keep your chest up and forward and your knees directly over your toes. Lower your bottom like you are sitting down in a chair. Return to starting position and repeat.

Squats with Pulse - Use the same form as described under squats. Once you are low in your squat position, raise slightly (a few inches) then lower again to full squat. You can do many short pulses or just one, depending on your fitness level. Return to the starting position and repeat.

Push-Ups - Start in plank position. With your hands slightly wider than your shoulders, lower your body until your chest almost touches the floor. Push back up to the starting position and repeat for listed number of repetitions. Not ready for a full push-up yet? You can also do these with your knees on the ground.

Walking Lunges - Step forward with one leg keeping your upper body straight and shoulders back. Lower your hips until your leg is bent at about a 90 degree angle. Repeat on each leg, lunging up and down your driveway, for number of repetitions listed.

Walking Lunges with Rear Leg Extension - Use the same form as described under walking lunges but when you stand back up, lift your rear leg straight out behind you squeezing your glutes.

With cooler weather approaching, many people limit themselves to indoor workouts. That doesn't have to happen! Make sure that you are properly dressed and get outside. We go hiking all year long and many of my layers are Champion. I stay warm and I'm still able to enjoy the beautiful outdoors!

The clothes that I wore for this workout were AMAZING! I am in love with this warm fleece top and love how the capris fit!

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana Mason Jar Overnight Oats

Wow. I should have started making these years ago! Just like with spiralizing vegetables, we are a little late to the game on overnight oats in a mason jar…but better late than never! We have a ton of oat recipes (like one of our most popular, Apple Cinnamon Steel Cut Oats) but many of them require a crock pot which also means more clean up.

Enter mason jar oats.

I actually have tried these once before but obviously did something wrong because I didn't like them. We've been super busy lately so I decided to give them another chance as a way to speed up our mornings. I must say I was successful this time!

This particular combination reminds me of our Banana Peanut Butter Protein Shake which is basically the best protein shake ever. So this is like eating that shake. Amazing.

You really don't need much for these so they are prefect for those on a budget. I recommend buying a set of 8 oz mason jars. You'll want all 12 to try different flavors – trust me! Plus, I love drinking juice and flavored water out of mason jars. Mason jars make everything better. It's a fact.

Mason Jar Overnight Oats

Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup quick oats
  • ½ cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1-2 tsp honey or maple syrup
  • 1 Tbsp peanut or almond butter
  • ½ banana, mashed
  • 1/8 tsp vanilla
  • 2 squares of dark chocolate (choose quality chocolate 70% or higher)

Directions:

  1. Mash banana and break up chocolate (I usually use a meat tenderizer for these tasks!)
  2. Add all ingredients to a mason jar and stir to combine
  3. Cover with lid and store in refrigerator for a few hours or overnight if you are making these the night before

Once ready just stir and eat – these are tasty cold but can also be heated up! These make a perfect meal paired with eggs or a protein shake!

Note: For these pictures I doubled the recipe so don't be alarmed if yours doesn't seem to fill up the mason jar as much.

Kohl's #MakeYourMove campaign isn't only about moving, it's about living an overall healthy lifestyle. We are all busy but taking a few minutes each night or even just a few nights a week to prepare food in advance will set you up on the road to success!
