30-Day Ab Fitness Challenge | He and She Eat Clean

If you've been reading our blog for any period of time, you'll know we believe that abs are made in the kitchen. There's no amount of sit-ups for crunches you can do that will give you a six-pack. I also fully understand that some people don't want a six pack - no worries, this isn't going to turn you into a six-pack machine.

This challenge is to strengthen your core. Strengthening your core is about more than appearance, it's about helping to prevent injury as well. Add this short challenge to the end of your workouts each day. Take notes about how you feel and how hard (or easy) the challenge was. This will give you something to look back on and compare how much stronger you are.

If you are advanced and this is too easy for you, you can double or triple each day. If this is too difficult, cut the time and/or reps down and work your way up. This challenge is totally customizable based on your fitness level.

This challenge was designed to be something that you do in addition to your normal workout (which is hopefully one of our workout plans!). We have 4, 6, and 12-week workout plans for all fitness levels!

2018 Fitness & Finance Challenges

As you may have noticed, our website has started incorporating saving, budgeting, and travel posts. We want to help you reach all of your goals - fitness AND finance! We're introducing a few new fitness challenges for the new year and also encouraging you to participate in one of our money saving challenges at the same time!

First up is our She Sweats Winter Workout Challenge.

Maybe you indulged a little bit more than you wanted or you just need some motivation to get back into an exercise routine...either way, our She Sweats Winter Workout Challenge will give you that motivation to "become the best version of yourself"!  Plus you could win a prize pack valued over $200!

It's simple to enter:

  • Purchase your workout plan (you can use the 12-Week Transformation, 12-Week Run Builder, 13.1 Plan, or Marathon Training Plan). You must have your own copy. It is illegal to distribute copies of this workout.
  • Before starting, take your "before" pictures with some sort of time stamp (using the time stamp on a camera or a newspaper). Make sure your pictures are clear. You can wear what you prefer but make sure it is something where you can tell your progress throughout the challenge period. Take pictures from the front, side, and back. Stand using good posture.
  • Complete the workout plan that you choose.
  • Take "after" pictures in the same manner that you did your "before" pictures.
  • Email your before and after pictures (together) to thegang@heandsheeatclean.com.
  • BEFORE PICTURES MUST BE TAKEN BY JANUARY 31, 2018. AFTER PICTURES ARE DUE BY MAY 31, 2018. Note: This is a longer time frame to account for the 16 week half and full marathon training plans (plus a little time cushion). If you are doing a 12-week plan you can send in your pictures once you are finished - you do not have to wait until May 31.

I've never released a challenge specifically for this time frame but I'm super excited to do so! I know that this is a very busy time of year so this challenge will not take very much time. While I would like for you to be doing this in addition to your normal workouts (we have quite a few...wink wink) if this is the only thing you have time for it is better than nothing! The goal here is to just get into the habit (or keep the habit) of working out.

There are two workout plans that I would suggest for this time of year if you are looking for something more structured. One is our Busy Body 4-Week Workout Plan. You will only spend 3 days a week in the gym (or your home workout space) for 40 minutes or less! Learn more here.

Another one is our She Sweats Extreme 4-Week Shred. This one is a little bit more advanced so it is not recommended for beginners. This plan is focused on strength training and HIIT in a circuit-based workout. The four weeks are structured to optimally shed fat and help retain the muscle you have worked so hard to build. Learn more here.

For 40 days, from Thanksgiving Day to New Year's Day, you have two challenges to do each day. They can even be split up if you prefer. The cardio challenge is just ONE mile of any type of cardio you choose to do. In a perfect world, you would be doing these outside to get the benefit of being in the fresh air and you would be switching things up and doing different types of cardio but I understand that can be hard sometimes. The core challenge is also the same each day, you hold a regular plank, with good form for as long as possible. As I mentioned, the goal here is just to get moving or keep moving through the holidays but I've also included a "notes" section on each so you can record your mile time and plank time if you would like to try and improve those over the course of the challenge. You could also use this column to check off each day that you complete the challenge!
